Brook Cottage Living Room

This is the room you enter as you walk in through the front door. It is a spacious room with exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace and window seat. It has two large settees that we find so comfortable that we often relax into sleep, lulled by the warmth of the wood-burning stove. There is a rocking chair too. We love playing music in this room, as the open plan nature of the cottage means you can enjoy the music wherever you are, for example whilst cooking in the kitchen. The floor is slate tiles with carpeting into the seating area.

The oval dining table extends to seat 6 comfortably. When we have the family over, we bring the kitchen table through and use the window seat, seating 12 altogether.

There is a big new digital TV, and a CD player with separate amplifier and good quality speakers. This part of the country has now gone fully digital, so reception is much improved and we now have access to the usual enormous range of television and radio stations available on freeview.

In the right hand picture, you can see the door through into the snug, the second sitting room.
